Tariffs and payment

Understand Dutch dental tariffs, treatment estimates, insurance and Infomedics payments at Tandartspraktijk Mathenesse.

Dental tariffs in the Netherlands

The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) sets national procedure codes and maximum tariffs for dental care. These maximum tariffs are not a fixed total price for your treatment. Expected costs depend on the procedures required and any separately chargeable material or laboratory costs.

Before treatment: request an estimate

You can request a personalised treatment estimate in advance. This explains the proposed treatment and expected costs.

For treatment above €250, we provide a written cost estimate in line with Dutch rules.

We are happy to explain the proposed treatment and invoice codes in English before you decide.

Insurance and your own contribution

Any reimbursement and the amount you pay yourself depend on your insurance coverage. Your insurer can confirm which costs are covered by your policy.

After treatment: understanding your invoice

Dutch dental codes combine a letter for the treatment category with a number for the specific procedure. Tooth numbers identify the tooth concerned: numbers beginning with 1 or 2 refer to the upper jaw and 3 or 4 to the lower jaw.

Payment through Infomedics

Our invoices are processed by Infomedics. If your insurance details are available, Infomedics may first submit eligible costs to your insurer and then invoice you for the remaining amount.

Invoices are generally sent digitally with payment options such as iDEAL, direct debit or online banking. Questions about coverage should be directed to your insurer; questions about the treatment can always be discussed with us. Read our terms for payment and appointment cancellations for the applicable arrangements.
